The Outage

Well, we almost had the perfect week off. Almost. The snow was supposed to melt on Friday, so we were ready to finally get to venture out, however the power went out Thursday night. It was crazy because our whole neighborhood lost power, but then over half of it got power that morning. We were not in that lucky group. The morning we lost power, the boys were trying to stay warm in our room looking at the books by candlelight and flashlight. They are both squinting due to the flash on my iphone camera. lol

Not knowing how long it was going to be out, we accepted our neighbors gracious offer of hanging with them (they had their power), so we spent the morning and afternoon with them. As the day went on, we realized it may be awhile before our power was going to be back, so we packed up and headed to my parents. My brother Clint, let us use his bed. That first night was... um... difficult. Have you ever tried to get your children to fall asleep in a room with movie posters plastered all over the ceiling? Then for some reason, the four of us slept in the queen bed together. It was a bit of a restless night. The next night we came up with an alternative sleeping arrangement.

Though Nate woke up often, it worked out better. At one point I was certain he was asleep so I got up to go to the bathroom, when all of a sudden I heard little footsteps running through the house. I was shocked he didn't cry or say a word, he just went looking for me in the middle of the night! My parents were extremely helpful and took great care of us. The boys loved playing with the playdough my mom made...

As much fun as the boys have at Grandma Lynn and Grandpa Jim's after two nights away we were all really wanting to go home. We were so relieved when we finally got the power back Sunday night. It was a bit crazy trying to get our things (and food) back in order after that. But we got through it!!
