We don't have any big trips planned for the summer. Chance is pretty booked up with NorthSound. We did have a small window where we planned a trip to Chelan. We were lucky enough to have friends that were staying over there in their parent's house along the Columbia River so we were able to stay with them and then meet the rest of our family (my parents, Simons and Barnhills) at Slidewaters then next day. We tried to make the trip over a leisurely one to enjoy some stops on the way.
First stop: Leavenworth.
Then we stopped at this place that had some fun games and a playground to play on. It also had a hay maze that the kids really enjoyed.
We arrived around dinner time. The boys got to play with their friends Bryson and Deyton. Here they are swinging on the rope swing in the distance.
The next day was truly a blast! The boys went crazy for the water slides and they loved getting to experience it with their cousins. The park was really fun. It was small enough that Luke and Wyatt could go off on their own and easily find us when they were done, but big enough to have lots of different slides to try. It took the older boys a while to work up the nerve to do the "purple haze." This was a tunnel slide that is completely dark while you are in it! But they did it! They are really getting brave these days! We were able to take Bradley down most of the slides on our lap and hold him up at the end so he wouldn't go under. He would "whoohoo" the whole way down, it was so adorable. I know it won't be long that Luke will probably want to be off on his own and not be hanging with his parents, so I'm enjoying that he still has fun with his us for now! Here we are after going down the speed slide together.
We also did a tandem one together.
Nate and Chance
They also had a really cool lazy river which was a favorite of all the kids. There was a section with a shallow water area where a huge bucket of water would fill up and dump all over anyone standing below. Luke really loved getting the water dumped on him!
Towards dinner time a thunderstorm was approaching. Since we had been there since 10 in the morning we decided we were ready to call it quits. We showered up and then headed into town for some dinner.
This was our first trip to Chelan with the kids, but I don't think it will be the last. I have a feeling they will be begging to do Slidewaters next year!
